What is Osseous Surgery?

What is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a titanium post which, when carefully placed, bonds to human bone. Once the titanium implant fuses to the jaw, it can be used to support one or more laboratory-made teeth. Finished dental implants are a technological miracle. They look, feel and function like real teeth and usually are the longest lasting method of tooth replacement a dentist can provide.

The implants used today were developed 60 years ago and have been in use in the USA since 1985.

Dr. Milman is so confident in dental implants that he has placed them for his father, uncle and brother-in-law.

What is Crown Lengthening?

Crown lengthening is a procedure to remove the excess gum tissue, exposing more of the "crown" of the tooth. The gum line is then sculpted to create the right proportion between the gum tissue and tooth surface. This sets the stage, allowing your new veneers or crowns to have the correct length and shape.

What is a Soft Tissue Graft?

Exposed tooth roots are the result of gum recession. Perhaps you wish to enhance your smile be covering one or more of these roots that make your teeth appear long. Or, maybe you are not bothered by the appearance of these areas, but you cringe because the exposed roots are sensitive to hot or cold foods and liquids.

Soft tissue grafts can be used to cover roots or develop gum tissue which is absent due to excessive gingival recession. During this procedure, Dr. Milman takes gum tissue from your palate to cover the exposed root. This can be done for one tooth or several teeth to even your gum line and reduce sensitivity.
